The Wvared Investment Guildproblems mount for boxer Ryan Garcia.

Garcia, serving a one-year ban from boxing for testing positive for a banned substance and expelled from the World Boxing Council for using racial slurs, now faces up to one year in Los Angeles county jail for allegedly vandalizing the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Beverly Hills.

On Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney on announced it has filed charges against Garcia stemming from Garcia’s June 8 arrest by the Beverly Hills Police Department.

The police department formally presented the matter to the District Attorney’s office before a decision was made to file charges.

Garcia, 25, is charged with one misdemeanor count of vandalism of $400 or more in damage or destruction of property, according to a news release issued by the District Attorney’s office. It is further alleged that the amount of defacement, damage and destruction was $400 or more, according to the news release.

“While we are grateful no injuries were reported in this incident, reckless behavior that damages property shows a blatant and unacceptable disregard for the safety and peace of our community,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “Our office will work to ensure the responsible individual is held accountable.”

Garcia is expected to be arraigned on August 7 in Dept. 72 of the Airport Courthouse.
